I Saw a Lamb Today

I think this was my first up-close encounter with a baby lamb. Her name is Jillian. I think that she's gonna grow up to be a black sheep.

back to WES

...and back to business!

I have a feeling that the next few weeks are going to fly by--especially with exams, and most importantly, !!!WESFEST!!!, coming up. freshman year is drawing to a close.

The first time I visited wes was with teresa. There was this sense of newness and unfamiliarity that only comes once; the feeling leaves within a few days of settling in. I want to take pictures of daisies again with the full might of the sun shining on them (but this time, I will use a good camera).

question: Amy, i know your dad is a tea fanatic. where does he buy (or import) his tikuanyin tea from?

p.s. I'd like to take a moment to thank Amy for the scarf. it keeps me warm on windy days this this. (edit 01.23.-9)

Something Old

Samson and I went back to Hunter today to visit our dear kids at drumming. The teacher is still very kind and expressive and tries so hard to teach everyone. Those three hours were the happiest I've been in a while. To look at old members and be able to smile and laugh while playing is something that can't be experienced anywhere else. I'll always be thankful to Samson for persuading the stubborn 9th grade me to at least give drumming a try and not care about who else was in it. Thinking about all the things we went through and how important and serious we took each thing that happened, it all seems like a very strange dream. I still can't believe some of the things that went down but we all came out wiser. Heh.

I hope that we can all come together and play again someday~

The Lam: spring break about to end

Destinations: Le Pain Quotidien & Levain Bakery

these came out very yellowish.

guess they needed some flash.

the natural lighting from Levain is much better for skin tones.

the cookies there were amazing too. they were half-baked so they tasted like cookie dough.

the cookies we bought.

chocolate chip walnuts

dark chocolate and chocolate chips

it's lonely half eaten.

this is all the varieties.

we past by this place walking to the 1 train station.

i thought it was too odd of a sign to ignore.

03.19.09 no pictures this time...

I went to another interview today. It couldn't have gone any better.

Saw Ms. Roque :D I haven't chatted with her since January.

I had some time to kill before meeting my sister so I went to b&n to read up about my nikon d80. the more i know about it, the more there is to like about that camera :D

By far the most exciting thing was seeing DanceBrazil at NYU with my sister. Their performance was spectacular. Seriously, go see it if you get a chance. Worth the money. thank you, SAMSON for the tickets!!!

03.18.09 photos of concon

highlights of the day:
-tenren. i've been there way too many times this break. its my new starbucks. bad habit.

- getting chinese hot cakes for the first time! they are good.

-vietnamese sandwich, always one of my favorites

i couldn't believe that i knew more about chinatown than someone for a change. i'm use to following people around.

My first impression of Johnny

I was rereading my xanga entries when I randomly found this:

Johnny: Ehh I can't see anyway.

Me: How bad are your eyes?

Johnny: 300.

Me: That's not too bad. I'm 500.

Johnny: You should get surgery.

Me: it's not that bad....

Johnny: I meant plastic surgery.

The Johnny I met in 7th grade was a very strange boy who felt the need to mumble angry comments in reaction to the announcements in assembly. But now he has flourished and become an engaging, intelligent, kind hearted young man. Cheers to you Johnny!

03.17.09 the Bonnie Day

Okay, so starting with lunch, we went to Johnny Rockets, a fifties-style diner.

I ordered the Rocket Wings and Bonnie got a Garden Salad with a scoop of tuna.

They charged us $2.39 for a coke. They were not special Rocket-Cokes served in orbital cups so I don't understand the price. However, Bonnie's coke left a cool shape in the ice because she finished it so fast.

Speaking of drinks, a drunk guy rammed into Bonnie around noon. Good thing she has amazing balance; otherwise she would've been knocked over. Cheers.

Moving along, we walked down to Battery Park, keeping along Broadway.

isn't the anchor a cool inscription?

since it finally feels like spring, the birds are feeling promiscuous.

look at that male pigeon chasing the poor female around.

they are too preoccupied to notice the cool anchor on the rock. they're missing out on so much.

Bonnie says that her eyes don't smile.

I disagree.

Her eyes look pretty smiley don't they?

sunny days are great for pictures. even though they can cast some pretty harsh shadows, I think bonnie manages to pull it off gracefully.

me on the other hand....

a lot less pro at posing for the camera.

you may have noticed that our arms do not appear in any of these pictures

that is because we lent ours to a homeless man for the time being so that he can collect spare change.

don't worry, he promised to return them within the hour.

there is a dramatic re-enactment taking place behind bonnie.

the man is trying to aim the gun at his target without being distracted by the seagull that is about to poop on his head.

sad story: a bird pooped on bonnie's coat. bonnie says she is angry that the bird's mommy never potty-trained it

Walking back to Union Square and arriving at Red Mango:

I haven't been there since....the summer actually.

i got mango and chocolate for toppings

bonnie: coconut, granola, and (something else)

S
hoemania: Bonnie's cat threw up in her shoe so she needed a new pair.

it appears that animals in general enjoy leaving bonnie gifts.

the salesman at shoemania were all very helpful. that's because they were eager to get rid of inventory.

too bad bonnie couldn't find the right pair.

also, bonnie really needs to get an eye exam soon.

Yo yo yo

Readers may not know it, but there's actually another contributer of this blog :-/ My apologies. Unfortunately I am not yet on spring break and I don't have a great camera so this will be a sad little post in comparison to Johnny's.

The reason why I'm updating is because last weekend Will and John visited me! Hurrah! A little bit pf Hunter in this vast wasteland called Binghamton. It was lovely and made me really miss the city and the people. My break is from April 3-12 so come back to the city and eat with me.
It was interesting driving Hunter people around because it made me feel so collegey and mature and yadayadayada. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time putting things down in words. I realized this weekend that guys smell :(

Some pictures:
Tools at a club hahaha.

Will's monster face :) (Taken inside my car)

After a hard night where we got back to my dorm at 5 a.m.

I miss hanging out with people and being completely dorky and not being afraid to say whatever I want no matter how stupid. I miss laughing so hard that my stomach hurts and my eyes are tearing and feeling that warmth inside after a good talk. I miss a lot. I'm a loser.

Have a good day.

03.16.09 a Commute between NYC and Westchester

During my first visit to a strange suburbia town called Tarrytown... :

For our first pit stop, we ate at a Greek restaurant called Lefteris.

Anya, Sarah had a chicken gyro:

if you're curious to see anya attempt to fit a gyro in her mouth, ask me for the picture.

she'll kill me if i post it online.

anya also orders a (diet?) coke. the rest of us have water.

Viv had a shrimp Greek salad (large), which she obviously could not finish

look at that diet coke across the table mocking the waters next to it. the coke even has its own pink straw. where's MY straw, huh? WHERE?

I had Lamb on a stick. It was very good wrapped in pita.

next time i visit, i will get it again.

After lunch, we made out way to Lyndhurst. To my great disappointment it was closed. No tours were being given and I could not look inside. Furthermore, they don't let cameras inside anyway. bummer. I got lots of pictures of this historic monument from the exterior though, and will only bore you with one of them:

very beautiful site.

As if Lyndhurst being closed wasn't bad enough, we walked over to Sunnyside only to discover that Washingtin Irving's house was also closed. Along the way back, a couple of really nice drivers offered us a ride--they thought we were lost international students. What kind people. Anyway, Tarrytown is closed for business in March. Do NOT try to visit any famous places there during spring break...

taking a break on rocks after we go locked out of Sunnyside:

viv munching on a quaker oatmeal bar

sarah is laughing at whatever

anya flashing the camera.

lol actually she's reaching for her phone to call pei and sarah qiao

she would make a grade-A flasher though.

Baking SUGAR COOKIES!!!

viv taking cookies fresh out of the oven.

see the J shaped one? i made that!

putting sprinkles on cookies

i like the translucent sprinkles better. they've got more class.

viv also let me get a picture of her awesome scar. i don't think i can put it up though.

the finished products!

now, does this cookie look like the top half of a ginger bread man or does it look like bullwinkle?

anya holding up a music note.

i've got pictures of her devouring cookies. they are very attractive. ask me for them!

viv bullies me into letting her use my camera to take pictures of me.

this was taken against my will.

look at them so sleepy & peaceful after baking.

actually, these people all banded together and gave me a collective middle-finger.

made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

sarap led the revolt!

Peking duck:

well, since we were on mott street, who can resist stopping by tenren?

second time i've been there this spring break.

nice haircut, pei!

qiao and anya split a green tea.

how does sarah manage to look qute in every photo?

-__- me jealous

they try to unfurl their napkins at the same time.

epic fail.

surprisingly anya does not order a soda this time. she is content with water and tea.

ahhh, tonight's star attraction!

mr. peking over here is calling out to me...

can't resist....

i'm sorry rheesoo, but ducks are not too cute to eat. they are too yummy to leave undisturbed

a picture of everyone together.

teresa, you get to meet a new friend.

as do you, pei.

where's MY kiss on the cheek?!?!

this is discrimination! why does anya get special treatment?!
